Preparation is critical for this remote park. Bring cash, pack rain gear, and book your MASwings flights well in advance.
Getting there
How to reach the park by air or river.
| How | Time | Cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tour: Most visitors book a flight via MASwings from Miri (30 mins), Kuching, or Kota Kinabalu to Mulu Airport (MZV). | 30 minutes from Miri | From RM 84 one-way | This is the most realistic way to access the park; flights can be delayed by heavy rain. |
| Walk: From Mulu Airport (MZV), you can walk directly to the Park Headquarters. | 20 minutes | Free | It is about 1.5 km and well-signposted. Minivans are also available for RM 5-6 per person. |
| Boat: The adventurous overland route involves taking a bus from Miri to Kuala Baram, a boat to Marudi, and a series of riverboats up the Tutoh River. | 12+ hours | Varies depending on charters | Highly dependent on river water levels and requires careful logistical planning. |
